Route and Description:

Trip Full – Expressions of interest are invited for a 16 day full-pack walk (one food drop) in the remote western section of the Chewings Range (approx. 200km west of Alice Springs) with spectacular views, amazing gorges and waterholes.
The first stage of this walk will start out from Ellery Creek which we will follow passing through the Chewings Range and walking along the northern side visiting a number of spectacular gorges before heading into Ormiston Gorge to replenish supplies.
The second stage will head back along the southern side of the range to climb Mt Giles and visit Diagonal Gorge before returning via Bowmans Gap to Ormiston Gorge for our transport back to Alice Springs.
The planned route may vary subject to Remote Walking Permit approval from NT Parks. This walk is entirely off-track in an arid environment with some parts being steep, rocky, sandy with some possible mild exposure where you will be required to carry up to 8 days food and at least one water carry for part of the first day.
This walk is suitable for experienced walkers with prior full-pack multi-day walk experience a must. Walk is partly exploratory for the Leader. Party size limited.
