Description:
Commence at Cowan station. This walk is well signposted as GNW. A steep descent on a rough track takes you to Jerusalem Bay (a good place for a short stop). After crossing the creek there is a steep and rough ascent. During the ascent there are 2 rest areas each with a wooden bench and a rocky area at the top for a refreshment stop with valley views. The track continues crossing the Campbells Crater/Taffys Rock Track, crosses Campbells Creek and eventually ascends to a fire trail at the 6km mark. Follow the fire trail which has views to the west, north and east. At the 8.4km mark take a track into the bush to a number of large rock platforms which are ideal for a refreshment break with views over the Hawkesbury River. Continue on the fire trail turning off around 10.4km to pass Brooklyn Dam on its North side. There is a small campsite here. Continue on the fire trail/GNW to 12.1km mark turning left onto a different fire trail. Watch for the turn off on the right hand side at about 12.3km to shortcut the fire trail. Rejoin the fire trail and turn left at the electricity lines at 12.6km. Follow this bush track down to Brooklyn Road and the village. There is no drinking water available on the route.
