Route and Description:

Walk Full / Wait List Operating – Trig Walk – Expressions of Interest. Grade 3 & 4. Day walks to local NPs around Tenterfield with your choice of accommodation (own tents, cabins, rooms). Expect early wildflowers in Girraween (means “place of flowers”), with its massive granite pyramids and arches and unique wildlife. The massive Bald Rock is the second largest monolith in Australia after Uluru. The other two NPs have stunning waterfalls. Preliminary itinerary:
Day 1 – travel to Tenterfield
Day 2 – Girraween NP northern tracks incl The Pyramid (some exposure) & Granite Arch 10 – 20km, +350 – 750m
Day 3 – Castle Rock, The Sphinx & Turtle Rocks, Mt Norman: 15km +600m
Day 4 – Mt Norman, Peak Trail, Twin Peaks, Underground Creek (car shuffle): 16km +600m
Day 5 – rest day. Plenty of local attractions.
Day 6 – 85 Trigs walk – Bald Rock trig. Bald Rock, Little Bald Rock & Basket Swamp Falls: 16km +450m
Day 7 – 85 Trigs walk – Boonoo Boonoo Trig (TS6585), Boonoo Boonoo River & Falls: 16km +400m (G4 incl some off-track to get to trig))
