2099701-Sep-2416-Sep-24Grade 4Scotland Cape Wrath Trail (North & South): Thistle Trekking Commercial trip. Total distance is 295km and average ascents 600-1000m. The Cape Wrath Trail is often considered the hardest long distance trek in the UK, however the challenge of this trail is equally matched by breath-taking scenery, making it described as one of the most wild and beautiful places in the UK. We will walk the South section of the trail for six days (excluding a small part of the beginning section, which has no road access), then after a rest day, walk the North section over seven days, reaching Scotland's most northern tip. The ave length of days will be 20kms but there are several that are 30kms. Usually to complete this walk you need to wild camp (and brave all the elements), but Thistle Trekking offer full support, with a guide to get us through the bogs and a support person to manage the transport and accommodation. We will only carry day packs & have a hot shower every night! Thistle grade this walk a 5, compared to the West Highland Way, which they grade 3. The trail is not well established in some areas and is remote. There will be short sections of road walking to meet transport. The weather will be unpredictable. Estimated Walk cost is $5,351 (subject to exchange rate etc). Accommodation will be twin share in mostly Bed & Breakfasts. Lunches and dinner are not included. This is an overseas trip, so the normal insurance arrangements of the Bush Club do not apply. Participants will need to arrange their own international air travel & internal travel to be in Fort William to start on Sept 1. The trip will conclude in Inverness on Sept 16th. Group size: Max 6.
